Her research has appeared in leading marketing journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and Journal of Public Policy & Marketing.
Areas of Focus
Complex Consumer Journeys
This research explores how consumers navigate fragmented and challenging experiences, particularly during periods of illness, trauma, and uncertainty. Through studies of healthcare, fertility services, and other complex consumption experiences, Dr. Trujillo Torres examines how consumers develop agency, negotiate institutional barriers, and find meaning throughout their journeys.
Marketplace Inequalities
This research examines how cultural norms, institutional structures, and market dynamics shape who gains access to resources, opportunities, and legitimacy. Dr. Trujillo Torres investigates how inequalities are created and reinforced through marketplace practices, with particular attention to race, discrimination, healthcare access, and consumer well-being.
